Man shot, police officer slashed across face in Brisbane's south
A man has been shot by police after he allegedly slashed an officer across the face with a knife soon after police arrived at his Brisbane residence on Wednesday afternoon.
The alleged offender was rushed to hospital in a critical condition, while the injured officer was taken to hospital with serious, but non life-threatening, injuries.
The area will remain a crime scene throughout the night.
Police said officers went to the man's home on Hillgrove Road in Upper Mount Gravatt to serve him with documents. Authorities have not yet released details regarding the documents.
It will be alleged the situation escalated very quickly soon after police arrived.
The 25-year-old man was accused of arming himself with a knife, lunging at police and slashing one of the officers across the face.
Another officer then allegedly drew their firearm and shot the man multiple times in the abdomen.
Paramedics were called about 5pm and took both patients to hospital.
Police have declared the area a crime scene and examinations of the scene will continue throughout the night, with ethical standards command investigators involved in the inquiry.
Authorities have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
