Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor GC Murmu resigns

Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor GC Murmu resigned late on Wednesday night, PTI reported. Murmu, a 1985-batch Gujarat cadre IAS officer, had been appointed the L-G in October 2019.
The report quoted sources as saying that he is likely to get a fresh posting at the Centre.
Before his stint in J&K, Murmu had served as the Expenditure Secretary in the Union Finance Ministry, IE reported.
During PM Narendra Modi’s stints as chief minister of Gujarat, Murmu had held several important administrative positions.
He had also helped in governing public sector undertakings (PSUs) under Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the IE report added.
