Ku Ka SelvamCHENNAI: DMK on Wednesday suspended its Thousands Light MLA Ku Ka Selvam from the party and served a show-cause notice to him on why he should not be expelled from the primary membership of the party.
Selvam created a flutter in the DMK camp on Tuesday after he travelled to New Delhi to meet BJP national president J P Nadda, setting off rumours about him joining the saffron party.
While there was no formal announcement from BJP, other than it being termed a courtesy call, Selvam denied joining the BJP, after his meeting with Nadda.
In a statement, DMK said it has removed Selvam from the post of party headquarters office secretary and also from the party's headquarters executive committee.
Selvam on Tuesday said he met railways minister Piyush Goyal to request him to install two lifts at Nungambakkam railway station in his constituency. The meeting with Nadda was to request him to develop Rameswaram region on a par with Ayodhya, he said.
He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his governance and wished him for his efforts to construct Ram temple at Ayodhya.
He demanded that DMK president M K Stalin hold an internal party election. He also demanded that Stalin condemn the act of people who demeaned the holy hymn Kantha Sashti Kavasam. “Stalin should snap his ties with Rahul Gandhi and Congress,” he said.
