Pune: 13-year-old killed after dumper hits bike

A 13-year-old girl lost her life after coming under the rear wheel of a dumper.

Pimpri: A 13-year-old girl lost her life after coming under the rear wheel of a dumper. The girl, who was a pillion rider, fell off the bike after the vehicle was hit by the dumper and her father lost its control. The accident took place at Morya Park in Pimple Gurav on Tuesday around 6 pm.

The police have identified the deceased girl as Vibhuti Sanjay Safaria (13), a resident of Chikhali. The police have arrested the dumper driver, Ganesh Rajaram Vagre. The 27-year-old is a resident of Thergaon. A case has been filed with the Sangvi police station which falls under the jurisdiction of the Pimpri-Chinchwad police commissionerate.

A police official told Sakal Times, "Sanjay Safaria and his daughter Vibhuti had visited their relatives at Morya Park in Pimple Gurav and were heading back home around 6 in the evening, Sanjay and his Vibhuti were using the Chikhali road on a two-wheeler. At that time, a dumper hit his two-wheeler on the main road at Morya Park. So Vibhuti, who was sitting on the back of the bike, fell off. The speeding dumper could not control itself, and the girl came under the rear wheel of the dumper."

"The girl died on the spot. The police rushed to the spot after getting information about the accident. Traffic on this route was diverted for some time thereafter. The body was later shifted to Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital (YCMH), in Pimpri. We have arrested the dumper driver and we are investigating the case."
