Covid-19 positive cases reported in the
NMMC civic area for several days with five times more sample tests daily at 2500, includes cases from
non-containment areas along with the 46 containment zones.
As the markets open up, there is a need to monitor norms of social distancing and strapping of masks to ensure there's no late spreading even as inter city and intra city movements will increase, commissioner,
Abhijit Bangar observed.
Data analysis of wards of non-containment areas coupled with possible monitoring by police of public places is being explored. The daily positive cases on Wednesday and Tuesday dipped to 278 and 253.
The positivity rate has slipped to 20% (roughly) from the 55% earlier, yet the total number reported per day is on the higher side, the civic body acknowledged. NMMC's total cases since first reported in March have also closed onto 17K ; Wednesday's total was 16,957.
The civic body is also in talks with BMC that has done antibody tests to organise the tests in NMMC area. "Officers are in talks with BMC in which way the tests are to be conducted. The slum, containment zones and the randomisatiom of general population to check the herd immunity," the civic body said.
