VW Starts Accepting Digital Signatures For New Vehicle Purchases

VW has introduced a new no-touch signature system in the United States in a bid to reduce in-person communication when purchasing a new car.

In the new world in which we are living, where masks and social distancing is the norm, Volkswagen of America says it has been looking for ways to reduce physical interactions. To do so, it has worked with CDK Global to launch Sign Anywhere, a digital signature tool that is among the first of its kind in the local auto industry.

Sign Anywhere allows customers to remotely and securely digitally sign financial documents through their own computer or mobile device. Such technology is quite new in the auto industry as many laws and state regulations usually require in-person signatures during the vehicle buying process. A total of 400 Volkswagen dealerships in states that allow digital signatures are now offering the Sign Anywhere tool.

“Customers are asking for flexibility and looking for peace of mind especially during this time, and Sign Anywhere helps provide that,” president and chief executive of VW Credit, Anthony Bandmann said. “Planning to implement this technology began two years ago but since this pandemic took hold, we’ve accelerated our plan to make this a permanent tool for our dealers.”

In addition to the Sign Anywhere tool, Volkswagen has altered the post-sale surveys it provides new customers. Rather than featuring a long list of multiple-choice questions, the new surveys feature far fewer questions and allow customers to describe their experiences in writing, rather than selecting a ranking between 1-10. Customers will also be offered the chance to share their experiences on VW’s website as well as the dealer’s website.
