Hyderabad: IPS probationers advised to comprehend reasons for crime, not just chase symptoms

HYDERABAD: The director general of Dr MCR HRD Institute, Hyderabad and special chief secretary B P Acharya advised IPS probationers to fully comprehend the true reasons for crime and handle situations effectively.
“Develop empathy to fully understand the true reasons of crime in their true and total frame of reference and address them effectively, rather than using energies merely to chase its symptoms,” he advised IPS probationers of the 2019 batch, allotted to Telangana Cadre. Five probationers attended an orientation training programme, organised by Centre for Public Administration (CPA), Dr MCR HRD Institute in Hyderabad. The focus of the orientation training program was on land-related laws, records, and procedures.
A K Goel, IAS (Rtd), former advisor to government, Harpreet Singh, IAS, ADG of the institute, Dr Mohammed Ali Rafat, IAS (Rtd), P K Sharma, IFS (Rtd), Chief Consultant (FC) at the institute, Dr Gautam Pingle, dean of studies and head, Centre for Telangana Studies at the institute were the resourcepersons.
“IPS Officers have a pivotal role in establishing law and order at the grassroots level, and, therefore, possess great potential to bring about a real difference to society at all levels,” B P Acharya said.
“It is a matter of gratification that there are many brave and dedicated IPS Officers who have not only performed their jobs responsibly and honestly, but also gone above and beyond their duties and created real and lasting changes in the society and thereby emerged as the shining examples of how an IPS Officer should be,” B P Acharya said. He urged the IPS probationers to draw inspiration from their extraordinary work and use their positions for the multifaceted development of society, especially for its weaker sections.
B P Acharya, presented books on Telangana to the IPS probationers, including Pedditi Dhrati Reddy, who is the topper from Telangana State in the Civil Services Examination, 2019, the results of which were out on August 4. He congratulated Pedditi Dharti Reddy for her success. Harpreet Singh, ADG of the institute was also present at the interactive session. Dr Ravulapati Madhavi, associate professor of Law and head, CPA coordinated the Orientation Training Program.
