Byju's acquires ed-tech startup WhiteHat Jr

WhiteHat Jr is India’s second largest ed-tech company at a revenue run rate of $150 Million.

Leading education technology firm Byju's has acquired WhiteHat Jr, a Mumbai-based ed-tech startup. WhiteHat Jr is India’s second largest ed-tech company at a revenue run rate of $150 Million.

"We started WhiteHat Jr to make kids creators instead of consumers of technology," explains Karan Bajaj, Founder, WhiteHat Jr, adding that "integration with a visionary company such as BYJU’S will help take this idea to new heights and help unleash the remarkable creative potential of kids at a global scale."

Byju’s is currently the second highest valued startup in India after payments firm Paytm. The nine-year-old company, founded by former teacher Byju Raveendran, has in recent months turned to acquisitions to grow. In January last year, Byju’s acquired Osmo, a US-based maker of educational games, for $120 million.

"WhiteHat Jr is the leader in the live online coding space. Karan has proven his mettle as an exceptional founder and the credit goes to him and his team for creating coding programs that are loved by kids. Under his leadership the company has achieved phenomenal growth in India and the US in a short span of time," said Byju Raveendran, Founder and CEO, BYJU’S.
