A 25-year-old domestic help in Ahmedabad was injured after her employer attacked her with a knife as she was unhappy with her housework.

Pritikumari Ram, who originally hails from Bihar, had been living and working at the residence of Shantanu Singh and Kalyani in Vasna area of Ahmedabad for the last four years, Ahmedabad Mirror reported.

On Sunday morning, as the 25-year-old was doing her daily work, accused Kalyani told her that she was not doing her household work properly. In her complaint to police, the woman said her employer soon started abusing her over household work.

After hurling abuses at her housemaid, Kalyani allegedly started hitting the 25-year-old. And in a fit of rage, accused Kalyani picked up a knife from a table nearby and attacked her, Pritikumari told police.

In self-defence, Pritikumari said she blocked with her hand, but the knife slashed through her left palm.

She immediately ran out of the house. A person outside saw her bloodied hand and called an ambulance following which she was taken to a hospital, the report added.

Later, the police were informed and a complaint was lodged by Prithikumri against her employers.
