Trains are being reversed from Mumbai Central Dadar, Bandra and Andheri.
Heavy rains continued to lash Maharashtra as several low-lying areas of Thane and Palghar districts were inundated. Teams of NDRF have been stationed in the areas, PTI quoted NDRF commandant Rajendra Patil as saying.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and some other parts of Maharashtra for Wednesday. The red alert was issued for the second consecutive day as rains continued to lash Mumbai and adjoining districts since Tuesday. The alert was issued for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Pune, Ahmednagar and Nashik districts. While the warning for Mumbai is only for Wednesday, that for Thane, Palghar and Nashik is for Wednesday and Thursday.
The intensity of rain is likely to decrease from August 6.

Meanwhile, south Mumbai received its heaviest rainfall of the season, as Colaba weather observatory recorded 229.6 mm rain in nine hours between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm. Wind speed was 65 kmph gusting to maximum of 72 kmph in south Mumbai between 4 pm and 5 pm. Visibility less than 600m, IMD said.

Due to strong winds, a tin sheet has gotten entangled with over head wires on Western Railway. Also, coconut leaves have gotten stuck in the wires that has caused snag and disrupted train operations of Western Railway.

Shivaji M Sutar, Chief Public Relations Officer, Central Railway: Due to heavy rainfall and waterlogging at Masjid-Sandhurst Road section, Harbour line trains between CSMT-Vadala stations have been suspended from 15.35 hrs onwards.
Despite heavy downpour, suburban areas, express and suburban trains on Central Railway lines are running without disruptions, said Shivaji M Sutar, Chief Public Relations Officer, Central Railway.
A five-year-old girl was rescued after she was left clinging to a tree for over four hours during a flash flood due to heavy rains in Dahanu taluka of Maharashtra's Palghar district on Wednesday, an official said.
As heavy rains lashed the district on Tuesday night, the girl's house in Shenshai got flooded, prompting her family to walk to a safer place in the early hours of the day, the district official said. While crossing a bridge along the way, the girl got separated from her parents due to the strong water current and climbed a tree, he said.
The girl remained clinging to a tree branch for over four hours, before being rescued by villagers at around 6 am, the official said. The child was rushed to a hospital, where she is presently undergoing treatment, he added. (PTI)
Heavy rains continued to lash Maharashtra as several low-lying areas of Thane and Palghar districts were inundated, PTI reported. As per reports from the disaster control room at Palghar, talukas of Dahanu, Jawhar and Vikramgad have experienced heavy downpour, while water-logging was witnessed in the Vasai-Virar region. Teams of NDRF have been stationed at both regions, PTI quoted NDRF commandant Rajendra Patil as saying.
However, no rain-related casualties were reported in the district, it was stated.
Meanwhile, several incidents of tree falling and cases of vehicle damage were reported in different parts of Thane district, said Santosh Kadam, chief of the Thane civic body's regional disaster management cell.
Heavy rains caused nullahs in Thane, Kalyan and Bhiwandi cities to swell and flood low-lying areas, he said. Apart from this, a compound wall of a hospital in Thane city's Owale area collapsed on a house, but no casualties were reported in the incident, Kadam added. (PTI)
Train movement on the Western Railway route in Palghar was affected due to heavy rain in the morning. According to railway sources, suburban services were stopped due to water-logging on tracks at Palghar station. However, despite heavy rains in various suburbs, the Western Railways suburban services were running normal between Churchgate and Dahanu Road.
On the central line, there was water-logging on tracks in Sion and Kurla areas and trains were running with some delays, PTI quoted sources.
Central Railway's chief spokesperson Shivaji Sutar said their suburban services, from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus to Kasara (Thane), Khopoli (Raigad), Panvel (Navi Mumbai) and Goregaon, were running despite the heavy showers.
Both the Central Railway and Western Railway are operating nearly 350 special train services each daily for those working in essential and emergency services.
Bus services of the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST), the city civic body's transport wing, were also affected due to water-logging on some roads. (PTI)
