Mumbai Rains Live Updates: Intense to very intense spell of rainfall likely to continue over Mumbai during next three hours, IMD said. Strong winds with speed reaching 70 Kmph along the coast are prevailing and likely to continue during next 3-4 hours, the weather agency added. This comes even as many parts of south Mumbai like Girgaum Chowpatty, Madanpura, Byculla, Hindmata, and Worli have reported waterlogging due to continued rain.

Due to very heavy rain and tree branches approaching near track at Churchgate, Mumbai Central and in between Marine Lines and Charni Road, the special suburban trains have been suspended temporarily between Mumbai Central, and Churchgate, Western Railway update said. Trains are being reversed from Mumbai Central Dadar, Bandra and Andheri.

Heavy rains continued to lash Maharashtra as several low-lying areas of Thane and Palghar districts were inundated. Teams of NDRF have been stationed in the areas, PTI quoted NDRF commandant Rajendra Patil as saying.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and some other parts of Maharashtra for Wednesday. The red alert was issued for the second consecutive day as rains continued to lash Mumbai and adjoining districts since Tuesday. The alert was issued for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Pune, Ahmednagar and Nashik districts. While the warning for Mumbai is only for Wednesday, that for Thane, Palghar and Nashik is for Wednesday and Thursday.

The intensity of rain is likely to decrease from August 6.
