Patiala: Tipper dies at de-addiction centre under mysterious circumstances; family cry foul

PATIALA: A liquor addict, who recently got admitted TO a de-addiction centre in Patiala, died under mysterious circumstances while on his way to a government hospital.
The family of the deceased man alleged that the authorities at the de-addiction centre had beaten him to death.
The police have identified the deceased as Deepak Kumar, 28, saying that he was a liquor addict due to which his family got him admitted to a private de-addiction centre for treatment.
Meanwhile, the police have initiated a probe into the matter after registering a case against three identified and one unidentified people.
Balram, the brother of deceased said, “My brother Deepak was admitted in the de-addiction centre in Raghomajra around five days ago. He was killed by the authorities at the de-addiction centre and his entire body had injury marks. We were informed that his health condition was not well and he was being rushed to the hospital. When we reached the hospital, the de-addiction centre personnel abandoned Deepak’s body in their car and left. They killed my brother by assaulting him at the centre. Deepak had left behind his wife and three children.”
DSP City 1, Sourav Jindal said, “We have registered a case under section 304 of IPC against four accused of which three have been identified and raids are being carried out to nab them. The post-mortem of the deceased has been carried out however, the reports were awaited and the exact cause of death can be revealed only after the post mortem reports are tabled before us.”
