Wuling Previews New Victory MPV’s Interior, Shows Exterior Too

General Motors and its partners SAIC Motor and Liuzhou Wuling Motors (SAIC-GM-Wuling) have great ambitions for the Wuling brand that go beyond China’s borders.

Back in April this year, slides from an internal presentation leaked online, revealing Wuling’s initial three-model lineup for global markets. The first will be the Cetus crossover/MPV scheduled to launch later this year, followed in 2021 by the Ursa seven-seat SUV previewed by the striking Hong Guang X Concept. There’s also a third model called Sirius which is a sports car bound for 2022.

Now, Wuling has also announced a midsize MPV called Victory, which will wear the brand’s new global silver badge, just like the aforementioned models. Does that mean the Wuling Victory will also be a global model? Most likely, but there’s no official confirmation on that yet.

What we do know is how the Victory looks like on the inside, as Wuling has revealed highlights of the minivan’s interior and safety features. One of the images also gives us an uncensored look at the exterior, which looks less sporty than in the teaser CGIs but good enough for a people mover.

The interior appears modern and comfortable, with the dashboard featuring a multilayer design dominated by the large “floating” ultra-high-definition LCD touchscreen and digital instrument panel. The Wuling Victory also features a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel and electronic shifter.

According to the Chinese automaker, the Victory features flexible curved surfaces and environmentally friendly materials. The beige cabin features highly ergonomic seats with soft leather fabric that “conform to the physiological curvature of the shoulders, back and waist, reducing fatigue on longer trips.”

The new MPV also features the largest panoramic sunroof in the segment, measuring 1,365 mm by 870 mm (53.7 by 34.2 inches). It is also equipped with a PM2.5 air filter and negative ion generator which are said to “block dust, viruses and bacteria to create a healthy interior environment with an N95 protection level.” Additionally, the cabin is a quiet environment thanks to the extensive use of sound-proofing materials and 4-millimeter (0.15-in) double-layer soundproof glass.

When it comes to safety, the Wuling Victory has a high-strength body structure made of 31% aviation-grade ultra-high-strength steel and 63% high-strength steel. Safety technologies include Bosch’s 9.3 Electronic Stability Program, full-speed adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, and automatic emergency braking. Six front and side curtain airbags as well as four wide-angle exterior cameras and six radars are also provided.
