N R VijayeendraBelagavi: The 75-year-old priest who fixed muhurat (auspicious time) for the foundation stone laying ceremony of Ram temple at Ayodhya has allegedly received death threats.
A case has been registered at Tilakwadi police station in Belagavi. N R Vijayeendra, the priest, is has reportedly receivedcalls from various parts of the county asking him to withdraw the date or face consequences.
After the Ram Mandir Trust approached Vijayeendra to fix the muhurat — he gave four dates—July 29 and 31, August 3 and 5. The PMO (Prime Minister Officer) after due deliberations with the stakeholders decided on August 5. In Uttar Pradesh, preparations for the event are under way in full swing and the govt will be deploying 4,000 Covid negative cops for security.
Vijayeendra who is kulapati of Vidya Vihar Vidhyalaya says tat he has received over 60 threat calls in the past four days. Police said calls were made from different parts of the country. Based on the complaint a security personnel has been deployed at his residence.
Vijayeendra is a close confidant of Govind Dev Giri, the treasurer of Ram Mandir Trust. Vijayeendra said he has studied both Indian and Western philosophy, and is a postgraduate. He recalled that leaders like Morarji Desai, Shankar Dayal Sharma, P V Narasimha Rao and others were in touch with him to seek advice on auspicious days.
