Non use of mask: 2586 persons penalised between July 23-30

Panaji: On an average, around 323 persons have been penalised in a day for not wearing face mask in public from July 23 to July 30.

As per the statistics, during those 8 days the police have penalised 2586 persons, of which 1664 cases were in North Goa while 892 cases in South Goa and 30 cases were booked by the Konkan railway police.

Similarly, for violation pertaining to spitting in public places, the police have booked 148 cases of which 101 were by the police in North Goa and 47 cases by South Goa police. Police have also booked 114 cases related to consumption of liquor, paan, gutkha, tobacco etc in public places. As many as 94 such cases were booked by the North Goa police whereas 20 cases by the South Goa police.

Regarding not maintaining social distancing norms, the police have booked 4 such cases and these cases are in South Goa. Around Rs 2.95 lakh was imposed as fines for various violations. Apart from this, 57 persons were arrested for violating government orders during this pandemic period in which 40 FIRs were registered.

North Goa police had arrested 14 persons in 12 different FIRs while the South Goa police arrested 43 persons in 28 FIRs.
