Ludhiana: Police registered a case against a doctor on Monday after an audio went viral in which he could be heard charging Rs 1,500 for a Covid-19 negative report. The allegations, however, are yet to be ascertained.
Assistant commissioner of police (Central) Waryam Singh said, “The case is being investigated.”
In the audio recording, a man is heard saying that he and his friends have to go out of the state and need a Covid negative report. On this, the doctor says that only an ID proof is required and Rs 1,500 for one person and they don’t even have to visit hospital.
A case has been registered under sections 420 (cheating) and 269 (whoever unlawfully or negligently does any act which is likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to live) of the IPC against the doctor, who owns a hospital on Old Jail Road.
