to a chartered accountant with a multinational bank claiming that the CA's 12-year old daughter made wrote the threat mails assuming that her parents were ignoring her.
She sent some e-mails to her father demanding Rs 12 million in a bid to teach her parents a lesson.
The investigators were shocked when it transpired that a 7th standard student had written three e-mails to threaten her parents.
"I am a Chinese and we need Rs 1 lakh otherwise we will kill your family." one of the e-mail read.
"Sorry you will have go give us 12 million or we will kill your small daughter… You can pay money online or by Amazon or Paytm. Our men are in Mumbai, they will come and kill everybody in your house," read the other mail.
"Now you have gone to police, now you see we will kill everyone in your family’’ read another e-mail.
After cracking the case, the crime branch officials handed over the case to Borivli police for further investigation.
Police said that as the girl is a minor, they had no plans to arrest her but have asked her parents to counsel her.
On July 18, the complainant had approached the Borivli police and lodged a complaint that he fears for his family as he has been receiving threat mails from China.
"As the sender had claimed himself to be a Chinese, it was assumed that some cyber criminals may be behind it and we started investigations. Three Gmail accounts were used to sent and hence during the technical analysis, we found that complainant’s own internet ID was used to create those Gmail accounts and further questioning of the family members, the minor girl’s name cropped up," said Chimaji Adhav, senior inspector.
A woman police officer then took the girl into confidence and inquired in front of her mother.
"The girl said that she was upset as her parents were not giving importance to her and were paying a lot of attention to her younger sibling who is three years old. This led to jealousy and she decided to sent threat e-mails and scare her parents," said Akbar Pathan, deputy commissioner of police.
Police said that she used to send e-mails while attending the online classes at home
