Mumbai rains: All offices to remain shut; BMC requests people to stay indoors

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has ordered to close all offices and establishment, except essentials due to heavy rains in Mumbai

Mumbai: Amidst the battle against novel coronavirus, Mumbaikars have now had to brave one more tough fight: The rains. The financial capital of the country is witnessing incessant rainfall from Monday. The meteorological department has sounded a red alert that rainfall will intensify further in the metro region and its suburbs for the next two days. The weather department has also stated that there would be the second spell of heavy rainfall this monsoon after a gap of a fortnight.

Meanwhile, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has ordered to close all offices and establishment, except essentials. It has declared suitable warnings and advisories to all coastal security agencies, Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) and as well as disaster management department. The administration has requested people to stay indoors unless extremely necessary.

The heavy rainfall has caused waterlogging at Dadar TT, Hindmata, SIES College, Bhendi Bazar Junction, Thakurdwar Naka, Shanmukhananda Hall, JJ Junction Shaikh Mistri Dargah Road, Postal Colony, the BMC stated.
