GTU students face glitches as online exams begin
Online examination for 25,000 students enrolled in the final year of undergraduate courses at Gujarat Technological University (GTU) started with disappointment for many on Tuesday.

AHMEDABAD: Online examination for 25,000 students enrolled in the final year of undergraduate courses at Gujarat Technological University (GTU) started with disappointment for many on Tuesday.
Even as the exam started, hundreds of students complained that they could not log in to the system as the server was not responding.
This glaring error on the university's part has raised several issues about the feasibility of conducting online exams and questions about students' futures.
"I kept on logging from 10 am as the exam was to start from 10:30 am. It didn't happen. I called GTU helpline and they just kept saying that students must continue to try logging in. I could log in only 20 minutes after the exam started. I am not sure if I will get additional time," said a student of BE.
Another student of BE had to miss the exam as he could not log in due to server error till 11:30 am. "I registered my device and also participated in the per-test run by GTU. I tried logging in with a new password that I got but the system still did not allow me to log in. I had to miss the exam," said another BE student.
GTU Registrar KN Kher said that as many as 400 of 1300 students from rural areas faced log-in issues. "Students are facing many issues and some of them are because of their bloopers. Many students downloaded the exam app multiple times. We send a new password every day and students do not check the latest password. They keep on logging in with the old password and face the issue," he said.
