Mumbai Rains Live Updates: In view of the heavy downpour in Mumbai for second consecutive day, CM Uddhav Thackeray has asked BMC to stay on high alert and urged the people to stay at home. He also reviewed the situation with district collectors of Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Palghar, Kolhapur, Thane and Raigad districts as they have been experiencing heavy rainfall.
Intense to very intense spell of rainfall likely to continue over Mumbai during next three hours, IMD said. Strong winds with speed reaching 70 Kmph along the coast are prevailing and likely to continue during next 3-4 hours, the weather agency added. This comes even as many parts of south Mumbai like Girgaum Chowpatty, Madanpura, Byculla, Hindmata, and Worli have reported waterlogging due to continued rain.
Due to very heavy rain and tree branches approaching near track at Churchgate, Mumbai Central and in between Marine Lines and Charni Road, the special suburban trains have been suspended temporarily between Mumbai Central, and Churchgate, Western Railway update said. Trains are being reversed from Mumbai Central Dadar, Bandra and Andheri.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Mumbai for Wednesday. The weather agency also issued red alert for Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Pune, Ahmednagar and Nashik districts for Wednesday and Thursday.

HEAVY RAIN coupled with gusty winds led to "uncommon" flooding in parts of South Mumbai, which is otherwise known to have a robust and efficient drainage system. Places like Oval Maidan, Marine Drive, and Girgaum Chowpatty were completely submerged even as water entered several housing societies located in these areas. Vihar lake, one of the seven lakes that supply water to Mumbai, started overflowing around 10pm on Wednesday. It is the second lake this monsoon to overflow, after Tulsi on July 28. According to the latest tweet by the IMD, the Colaba weather station recdorded 32.8 cm of rainfall between 8:30 am to 11: 30 pm on Wednesday, while Santacruz recorded 13.8 cm. "Intense to very intense spell of rainfall likely to continue over Mumbai during next 3-4 hours," the IMD said.

MORE THAN 300 essential service providers travelling by local train were stranded for over three hours between Byculla and CSMT on Wednesday evening as heavy rain and winds crippled operations in Mumbai. Trains came to a halt around 3.30 pm as water accumulated on tracks on the Central Railway (CR), while strong winds led to technical snags in overhead cables on the Western Railway (WR).
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Wednesday evening rescued some 150 passengers from a local train stranded between Masjid Bunder and Byculla stations on the Central line here, said an official. As heavy rains lashed Mumbai and tracks got flooded, another local train coming from opposite direction also got stuck near the same spot and a team has been sent to rescue the passengers, the NDRF official said.
Water logging was witnessed at Mumbai's JJ Hospital Wednesday after heavy rains in the city.
A 38-year-old man allegedly died of electrocution in an inundated area in the western suburb of Dahisar here on Wednesday, police said. Shambhu Jagdish Soni was found dead on the water- logged streets of Anand Nagar locality by some passersby in the morning hours, an official said.
The deceased, who worked at a tile manufacturing unit, was on his way to work in the rains when he got electrocuted, he said. While the body of the deceased has been sent for a post-mortem, an accidental death report has been registered, official added.(PTI)
The MeT department on Wednesday warned of an intense spell of 30 to 50 mm rainfall per hour wit strong winds in Mumbai and suburban areas.
As per an alert issued by the India Meteorological Department at 6 pm, strong winds could reach up to 70 to 80 k per hour speed and occasionally gust to 100 km per hour in the next three to four hours.
This intense spell could result in heavy water-logging and flooding in low-lying areas of the city and suburbs disrupting road and rail traffic. (PTI)
The NDRF has rescued some 150 passenger from a local train stranded between Masjid Bunder and Bycull stations on the Central line in Mumbai, said an official.
The first local train left the CSMT station in south Mumbai but could not move beyond Masjid Bunder. While 150 passengers in this train were rescued another 100 were still inside, the NDRF official said.
The other local which had come from Karjat got stuck 60 metres outside Masjid Bunder, he said. Around 60 passenger were inside and a rescue team had been sent, he added.
Water had collected upto three feet on the tracks a this spot, forcing the motorman to stop the local, he said. (PTI)

Two local trains are stuck between Masjid and Bhaykhala station in Mumbai due to water on tracks. 150 passengers from first local going from CST to Karjat have been rescued by Railway staff. About 100-120 still inside, NDRF said in a statement.
Another local which is coming from Karjat to CST is stuck at about 60 mtrs from Masjid station which may have 50-60 passengers. Water is about 2.5 to 3 feet deep. One team of NDRF from Andheri has moved for the spot.
