Mumbai rain live updates: Strong winds accompanied by heavy rainfall disrupt normal life

Vihar lake overflows due to heavy rains at 10pm on Wednesday. It is the second lake after Tulsi that overflowed. Both the lakes situated in Mumbai city limits supply 3% water to the city. Remaining 97% comes from five lakes situated outside the city.

There were power cuts in parts of Mumbai and in many places the water had flooded the cables which led to an electricity outage. There were complaints from parts of island city and suburbs

The BEST received requests from many citizens in island city to disconnect supply in their residential lines to prevent short circuits as water had flooded the meter cabins. An official said that following request by MLA Amin Patel, electricity supply was disconnected for some consumers in Kumbharwada, Null Bazar, Pydhonie, Kazi street among other places for a few hours.

Around 200 passengers who were stuck in two trains near Masjid were rescued by Central Railway's Railway Protection Force (RPF). RPF has also called NDRF to help evacuation of around 60 more passengers. These passengers were stranded for almost 2 hours.
