update: India has recorded 52,020 cases in 24 hours for a 6th straight day, taking its tally to 1,864,561. After conducting over 20 million tests, India's positivity rate is now at over 8%. India's death toll stands at 39,057.

Five most affected states by total tally of cases are Maharashtra (4,50,196), Tamil Nadu (251,738), Andhra Pradesh (1,66,586), Karnataka (1,39,571) and Delhi (137,667). Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Tripura and Uttarakhand witnessed active Covid cases plummeting. Among leaders, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Karnataka chief minister Yediyurappa and Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, former Karnataka CM and Congress Siddaramaiah leader have tested corona positive and have been hospitalised.
 
world update: Worldometer has recorded 198,932 new cases worldwide in the past 24 hours. As many as 18,486,295 people around the world have been diagnosed with Covid-19. While more than 11,665,214 have recovered 697,189 have died so far.
