Asaduddin Owaisi, AIMIM Lok Sabha MP from Hyderabad interacted with India Today in an exclusive interview to share his views on the Ram temple 'Bhoomi Pujan' in Ayodhya scheduled for Wednesday.
"The Ram Janmabhoomi movement was started by the RSS by giving responsibility to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and later, the BJP took it up by passing a resolution in Palampur in 1991. BJP under Mr Advani's leadership started the Rath Yatra, wherever it went, it created havoc, created a communal riot," Asaduddin Owaisi said.

He went on to add, "BJP in power went to Supreme Court when Kalyan Singh was chief minister and gave an assurance that Babri Masjid would not be touched. Had the SC not given permission, (Babri) Masjid would still be there."
"Demolition that took place on December 6, 1992, wherein the whole world knows it was Mr Advani, Murli Manohar Modi, Uma Bharti and Kalyan Singh, PM Modi was part of the Rath Yatra at the time. (At a time when) Leaders of the ruling party are facing trial in the demolition case it is not fit for the BJP to preside over Bhoomi Pujan of Ram temple and PM to attend," Owaisi told India Today's Rajdeep Sardesai.
Asaduddin Owaisi further added, "I want to know from BJP, what is your religion as PM? Your constitutional oath asks that you not favour any religion. If the PM goes it will assert that his religion is greater than others."

While expressing his opinion that Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust should not have invited the Prime Minister in the first place, Owaisi said that PM Modi should have declined the invitation.
"The state has no religion at all, the PM is free to practice his religion but the government does not have a religion," Asaduddin Owaisi said.
