Representative imageHYDERABAD: A businessman was robbed of valuables worth Rs 2 crore from his residence in Sainikpuri on Sunday night while he along with his family were away organising a marriage reception at Taj Falaknuma. The family suspects their watchman may have played a part in the theft.
Kushaiguda police said that A Narasimha Reddy, along with his family, had left the house on Sunday evening to host the reception of their son. When they returned home around midnight, they found the valuables missing. As per the family’s complaint, the accused had broken in to their cupboard and stolen 1.7 kilos of gold ornaments, Rs 2 lakh in cash, watches and other electronics. The value of stolen property is said to be around Rs 2 crore. The offence is said to have taken place between 6 pm and 8 pm.
The family also said their domestic helps, Bheem and his wife Gatha, were missing and their phones were switched off. The two had been working for the family for the last six months.
“Since July 25, the family had been busy with the son’s marriage and functions. Teams from central crime station, special operations team, law and order are on the hunt for the missing persons,” Malkajgiri DCP Rakshitha K told media.
