Cargo ship in troubled waters off Mumbai
A dry bulk cargo ship nearly ran aground near the Raj Bhavan in Mumbai on Tuesday morning after the city was lashed with heavy rains overnight. The ship was noticed precariously close to the rocky shores by Sarosh Bana, a defence expert living at Malabar Hill, and he alerted the Indian Navy, the Indian Coast Guard and other concerned officials.

Bombay high court adjourns virtual hearings after heavy rainfall in Mumbai
The Bombay high court adjourned its virtual hearings in various cases on Tuesday in view of the heavy rains that lashed the city overnight and in the morning. Five benches of the high court, including a bench headed by Chief Justice Dipankar Datta, adjourned the matters as many staff members could not reach the court in south Mumbai, an official said. The high court will hear the matters on Wednesday.

Heavy rain: Holiday declared for govt offices in Mumbai
The Maharashtra government announced a holiday for all its offices in Mumbai city and suburbs on Tuesday in view of the heavy rainfall in the metropolis and neighbouring areas.
The Santacruz observatory in western suburbs recorded 254 mm rainfall since Monday night while the Colaba observatory in south Mumbai recorded 220 mm rain during the same period, India Meteorological Department (IMD), Mumbai, Deputy Director General K S Hosalikar said.
Traffic movement from Byculla to south Mumbai was also affected due to inundation at some places.
Local trains in Mumbai and suburbs are currently being operated only for those involved in essential services in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.
