SRINAGAR: Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) will be taking over security of Leh airport in UT of Ladakh from Wednesday.
“Approval of the competent authority is conveyed for induction of CISF at Leh airport wef 05.08.2020,” said a home ministry communication to DG, CISF dated July 31, 2020.
M A Ganapathy, Spl DG Airport Sector, CISF, told TOI: “Leh airport will be the 64th airport in the country under CISF security cover and with this, all three functional civil airports in the erstwhile state of J&K — Srinagar, Jammu & Leh — will be under CISF security cover’’.
The home ministry had on October 29 last year sanctioned 185 posts for Leh airport.
