BENGALURU:
Karnataka on Monday recorded an all-time high of discharges for the second consecutive day. While 4,776 patients were declared cured and discharged, the state reported 4,752 new cases taking the
total number of the infected to 1,39,571.
The state witnessed 98 deaths, taking the toll to 2,594. Bengaluru accounted for 27 of the deaths.
The under-5,000 cases the state reported in the past 24 hours came on the back of the total number of tests dropping to 27,989 tests, including 9,915 RT-PCR tests. The state has been conducting 33,000 to 36,000 tests a day in the past few days. The number of new cases in Bengaluru, too, dipped to 1,497.
Mysuru reported 372 new cases, Ballari 305 and Bagalkot 209 in past 24 hours.
Medical education minister K Sudhakar said, "Karnataka has seen a
substantial increase in
Covid-19 recovery rate by 5.7% in the past week. Everyday there is an increase in recovery rate and it went up by 9.2% in
Bengaluru city. Overall the state's recovery rate by Sunday evening was 42.8% and 35.1% in Bengaluru."
