DGCA asks SpiceJet to withdraw sale offer for discounted tickets

SpiceJet has launched a 1+1 offer to boost ticket sales amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on August 3 asked domestic carrier SpiceJet to withdraw its five-day sale offer for discounted tickets, sources told CNBC-TV18.

SpiceJet has launched a 1+1 offer to boost ticket sales amid the coronavirus pandemic. Under this scheme, the airline is offering discounts on one-way base fares for travel on the airline's domestic network. The aviation regulator had reportedly sought a clarification from the airline on its latest offer.

"We have already complied with the DGCA directive," SpiceJet told CNBC-TV18.

During SpiceJet's five-day sale, which commenced on August 3, flight tickets can be booked for the travel period until March 31, 2021. To woo passengers, the airline has also included an offer for an upgrade to SpiceMax at Rs 499.
