China Southern Airlines is to temporarily move into Heathrow T5 later this week, joining an increasing number of carriers in BA’s hub terminal.
The carrier will move from T2 to T5 effective from August 5.
With Heathrow having condensed its operations down to just two terminals (T2 and T5), the airport has been gradually shuffling operations as flights resume.
American Airlines moved into T5 at the start of July, with Qatar Airways following suit on July 27, and Japan Airlines also having made the switch.
Along with British Airways, all of these carriers are members of Oneworld (as well as Iberia which is also operating from T5), but China Southern is a former Skyteam member which is currently unaligned to an alliance.
It’s not clear whether eligible China Southern and Japan Airlines customers departing T5 will have access to BA’s reopened lounges at the terminal (as has been the case with AA and Qatar Airways). Business Traveller has contacted all three carriers for further information, and will post any responses here.
