Shiv Sena spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi on Monday slammed former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fandvais and his wife Amruta for criticising Mumbai Police.

Amruta Fadnavis had earlier tweeted that Mumbai was no longer safe to live because of the way the Sushant Singh Rajput case was being handled by the Mumbai Police.

"The manner in which #SushantSinghRajputDeathCase is being handled - I feel #Mumbai has lost humanity and is no more safe to live - for innocent, self-respecting citizens," Amruta Fadnavis, who is also a senior official at Axis Bank, said in a tweet, using hashtags #JusticeforSushantSingRajput #JusticeForDishaSalian.

Earlier on July 31, her husband Devendra Fadnavis had also asked for a CBI inquiry in the matter.

"There is a huge public sentiment about handing over #SushantSinghRajput case to CBI but looking at the reluctance of State Government, at least @dir_ed ED can register an ECIR since misappropriation and money laundering angle has come out," Devendran Fadnavis had tweeted.

In a sharp reaction to the tweets, party spokesperson for the ruling Shiv Sena, Priyanka Chaturvedi slammed Devendra and Amruta Fadnavis and dared them to give up the protection of the Mumbai Police.

Without taking their names, Priyanka Chaturvedi said, "I challenge these state BJP leaders and their political aspiration bearing family accusing @MumbaiPolice and defaming them, to give up their police security go for private agencies who can make them feel safe in the city. As wife of former CM who was also HM to speak this way is shameful."

BJP has been raising demand for a CBI inquiry in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. Earlier, Bihar Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi had also made similar demands.

Actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead inside his house on 14 June. He had committed suicide.
