BHUBANESWAR: The state government has decided to train its teachers to conduct online teaching in schools. Two teachers each from 101 schools chosen as centres of excellence, and those from 30 other schools, will undergo the five-day training starting Tuesday.
“We don’t know when schools will reopen. To continue teaching children online, we need to train teachers first,” said school and mass education minister Samir Ranjan Dash.
The training aims to equip teachers with knowledge about remote learning platforms/apps and processes. They will be trained on basic etiquette and norms of online teaching. They will also be taught to curate and develop content for the virtual sessions.
In the syllabus are basics like how to download and set up apps, their salient features and usefulness, limitations of apps or remote learning platforms, their utility in the virtual engagement process and also privacy and safety norms.
