We expect that the order is likely to be issued to transfer the case to the agency in the evening, " said a police officer.
Maddumage Chandana Lasantha Perera alias Angoda Lokka, 35, had been living in a rental house at Green Garden near Cheran Maa Nagar in Coimbatore city in disguise till he died under questionable circumstances on July 3 night.
A woman named Amani Dhanji, 27, of Sri Lanka had also stayed with him in Coimbatore since February 2020. She became pregnant.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that Angoda Lokka murdered Amani 's husband a few years ago and started to lead a life with her. She visited Coimbatore thrice in the last two years to meet him.
Lokka was supplying protein supplements to many gyms in Coimbatore city.
Madurai-based lawyer T Sivakami Sundari, 36, helped Lokka hide at her residence for three months. Sundari sought help from her friend S Dhiyaneswaran, 32, of Tirupur to take a rental home in his name in Coimbatore city for Lokka and Amani Dhanji.
Lokka had hidden his citizenship and obtained an Aadhaar card in the name of Pradeep Singh. Later he made change of address to Coimbatore in the Aadhaar card.
According to the police, Lokka was wanted in Sri Lanka for multiple offences. He was also involved in a series of murder and drug smuggling cases. In the wake of a spate of killings in the island nation between Lokka and his rival gangs, he went underground in 2017.
Police said Lokka came to Coimbatore in 2018 and had been staying in an apartment at Saravanampatti. In February 2020, he moved to Cheran Maa Nagar area.
Following the death of Lokka, Dhanji approached Sivakami Sundari who visited Coimbatore on July 4 and lodged a complaint with the Peelamedu police. She stated that Pradeep Singh was her relative and he had died of a cardiac arrest.
The police registered a case under Section 174 of the CrPC and the dead body was handed over to lawyer Sivakami. Sivakami took the body to Madurai and cremated it there.
Dhanji confirmed the death of Lokka. On Sunday, the police arrested her, lawyer Sivakami and Dhiyanesawaran.
Dhanji denied poisoning Lokka, police said. She said Lokka had developed a chest pain and collapsed.
Though a postmortem was done on the body of Lokka, police said the cause of death could be ascertained only after a thorough lab test. The samples were sent to regional forensic science laboratory.
Dhanji was two months pregnant. The fetus was aborted when the police were planning to produce her before the magistrate. She was admitted to Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital.
