Gold futures declined 0.24 per cent to Rs 53,701 per 10 gram on Monday as participants offloaded their holdings on lower spot demand.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for August delivery fell by Rs 127, or 0.24 per cent, to Rs 53,701 per 10 gram in a business turnover of 615 lots.

RS member Amar Singh cremated; political leaders, relatives pay last tributes
Rajya Sabha member Amar Singh was cremated at the Chhatarpur crematorium in the presence of family members and relatives on Monday.
The last rites took place around 11:30 am. His two daughters consigned his mortal remains to flames. His wife Pankaja Singh was present there.
Due to COVID-19 protocols, Singh's last rites were performed in the presence of a limited number of people.
The 64-year-old, who died on Saturday in Singapore, had been undergoing treatment at a hospital there for six months and had undergone a kidney transplant in 2013.

He said facilities to fight the COVID-19 outbreak were being set up at grounds and halls and were temporary in nature, while the need of the moment was a permanent facility for treatment of and research into infectious diseases.

Strongly backing Tamil Nadu's decades-old two-language policy, the ruling AIADMK in the state on Monday rejected the Centre's three-language formula proposed in the new National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and said there will be no deviation from the existing system.

BCCI invites bids for kit sponsor and official merchandising partner rights
The Indian cricket board on Monday invited bids for the team's kit sponsor and official merchandising partner rights through a tender process to replace outgoing sponsor Nike.
The team's current apparel sponsorship right holders Nike's contract is set to expire next month. The sports apparel giant had a four-year deal with the BCCI for 370 crore with a royalty of 30 crore.
Under the Invitation to Tender (ITT), the winning bidder will be granted the right to be the kit sponsor and/or the official merchandising partner and various other associated rights (as defined in the ITT).
The ITT will remain for purchase till August 26.

Suzuki Motor Corp on Monday saw its operating profit nearly wiped out during the first quarter because of plunging car demand in India, its biggest market which has one of the world's highest novel coronavirus infection rates.

Mizoram to treat infected security personnel, civilian patients at separate COVID-19 hospitals
The Mizoram government has decided to treat coronavirus-infected security personnel and civilian patients at separate COVID-19 hospitals in the state, an official said on Monday.
The decision in this regard was taken during an emergency meeting chaired by Health Minister Dr R Lalthangliana on Sunday in the wake of a spike in COVID-19 cases among security personnel posted in the northeastern state, he said.
