BELAGAVI: A priest who fixed muhurat (auspicious time) for the foundation stone-laying ceremony of Ram temple at Ayodhya in UP has allegedly received death threats.
A case has been registered at Tilakwadi police station in Belagavi in Karnataka. Seventy-five-year-old NR Vijayeendra is said to be receiving phone calls from various parts of the county asking him to withdraw the date or face consequences.
After Ram Mandir trust approached Vijayeendra for muhurat - he gave four dates - July 29, July 31, August 3 and August 5. The PMO (Prime Minister Officer), after due deliberations with the stakeholders, finalised the date on August 5. In Uttar Pradesh, the preparations for the event are under way in full swing and the government will be deploying 4,000 Covid negative cops for the security.
Vijayeendra who is kulapati of Vidya Vihar Vidhyalaya is alleging that he has received over 60 threat calls from miscreants for the last three or four days. The police said calls were made from different parts of the nation. Based on the complaint, a security personnel has been deployed at his residence and further investigation will be done.
Vijayeendra is a close confidant of Govind Dev Giri, the treasurer of Ram Mandir Trust. He was also advising on auspicious days for leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Morarji Desai, Shankar Dayal Sharma and PV Narasimha Rao.
