A notification issued by Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar said the decision has been taken as an "emergency step to prevent and contain" the spread of COVID-19.
In a fresh set of guidelines regarding Unlock 3.0 in Mumbai, the city's civic body, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on August 3 allowed all shops to remain open on all days on both sides of the road.
Earlier, the shops had to follow an odd-even formula for opening up.
The civic body has also allowed counter sale of liquor.
"... All shops shall remain open on all days on all sides of the road irrespective of even and odds... It is directed that liquor shops are allowed to remain open... for sale across the counter but shall strictly adhere to national directives of COVID-19 for safe distancing and covering of masks..." the order stated.
Maharashtra on July 30 extended the lockdown in the state till August 31 but with easing of restrictions.

The state government allowed malls and market complexes without theatres, food courts and restaurants to be operational between 9 am and 7 pm from August 5.
