Karnataka CM Yediyurappa’s daughter tests positive, admitted to hospital

Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa’s daughter has tested positive for coronavirus a day after his test result came positive. His daughter has been admitted to Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru.

BS Yediyurappa was earlier admitted to the same hospital for observation after he tested positive for coronavirus on Sunday. At present, he is clinically stable and is being monitored closely by doctors at Manipal Hospital.

The 77-year-old Karnataka chief minister tested positive of Sunday and informed the same on Twitter. He is the second chief minister in India to be infected by Covid-19.

Speaking to India Today TV, Yediyurappa's other daughter Arunadevi confirmed that her father and sister are both admitted to Manipal hospital. She said Yediyurappa has no symptoms at the moment but was admitted to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

Yediyurappa’s announcement on the social media platform came hours after Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that he too had tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

The developments come at a time when cases are increasing rapidly in India. The country's coronavirus tally is rapidly nearing 18 lakh and the death toll has already crossed 37,000.
