Picture used for representational purpose onlyHYDERABAD: Many areas in the city received heavy rainfall, in some cases above 60 mm, on Saturday. Bandlaguda recorded the highest rainfall at 103.8 mm followed by Thattiannaram in LB Nagar with 94.5 mm.
According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society, areas such as Hydernagar, Vanasthalipuram, Nagole, Hafeezpet, KPHB received 60 to 90 mm of rainfall in a span of 24 hours between 8.30 am on Saturday and 8.30 am on Sunday.
Even on Sunday, light rains of up to 13 mm were recorded in some parts of the city such as RC Puram, Miyapur, Subhash Nagar, Bandlaguda and Nagole. There was a slight rise in maximum temperature from 32.8 degree Celsius on Saturday to 33.6 degree Celsius on Sunday, four degrees above normal.
After a break of two days, meteorologists have predicted heavy rains on August 4 and 5 at isolated places across Telangana. “Patchy rains will continue to lash for the next few days as it is a regular southwest monsoon activity,” said Naga Ratna, in-charge director, India Meteorological Department, Hyderabad.
