As part of Unlock 3.0, the state government has allowed opening of malls, shopping complexes and market places in non-containment zones from August 5. *In an analysis of 6,297 Covid deaths in Mumbai, men were found to have a higher case fatality rate (CFR) of 6.1% than women’s 5.3%. Mumbai’s overall CFR—the percentage of coronavirus deaths to number of patients who have tested positive—is 5.8%, still much higher than the state and country averages.
*After 21 days in hospital, superstar Amitabh Bachchan beat Covid-19 and returned home on Sunday. His actor son Abhishek (44), who was admitted to Nanavati Hospital in Vile Parle on the same day as his father on July 11, continues to be hospitalized due to comorbidities.
