A few days ago, Congress MLAs who enjoyed the hospitality at the luxury hotel in Jaipur have now reached the desert of Rajasthan in search of safe shelter. In Jaisalmer, the temperature reached 40 degrees at noon on Saturday. In such a situation, the health of two MLAs worsened.
In Rajasthan, CM Gehlot has repeatedly asked the Governor to call assembly session to prove majority. But the governor said that if you have a majority then why do you want to prove it. This development can be seen by adding that there are only 99 MLAs with the government. In Rajasthan, the Congress is constantly on the target of the BJP amidst political turmoil. On Sunday, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of Water Resources in the Central Government, took a dig at the Gehlot government. He tweeted that the essence of Gehlot Sarkar is to have fun, go for a walk, eat and drink, play Antakshari, watch a movie and find fault of others.
The CM's camp is claiming that they have 109 MLAs but only 92 MLAs have reached Jaisalmer from Jaipur. Of these, 7 MLAs including four ministers are in Jaipur and the Congress has 99 MLAs, 10 less than what they claim. Rajasthan has 200 MLAs. The Assembly needs the support of 101 MLAs. CPM MLA Balwan Punia had assured to support Gehlot some time back, but now Balwan Poonia was neither in Jaipur nor Jaisalmer. If Poonia followed the party whip and did not vote in favor of the Congress, then the Gehlot government would have only 99 MLAs. Overall, the threat of the Gehlot government's fall continues.
