As part of Unlock 3.0, the state government has allowed opening of malls, shopping complexes and market places in non-containment zones from August 5. *From 16,000 workers till the start of the Shramik Special trains, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), which is executing several mega infrastructure projects in the city and the rest of the MMR, is now down to about 3,500 workers.
*Even as the state government is yet to make a formal announcement on allowing travel to Konkan for Ganeshotsav, villages in the two districts of Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri have already finalized a standard operating procedure for visitors to keep the Covid-19 pandemic in check.

*Kalyan-Dombivli became the first civic body in the MMR outside Mumbai to cross 20,000 cases, civic officials and doctors felt cases in the region could plateau by end of the month.
