MNS district chief held, remanded to police custody for two days

THANE: The city police arrested MNS district president allegedly for ‘protesting’ at Covid hospital of Thane Municipal Corporation over certain issues related to contract nurses of Covid-19 hospital.
A police officer said that Jadhav was produced in the court on Saturday and remanded to police custody for two days.
But the MNS workers, who gathered in hundreds, created ruckus outside the court flouting every norm of social distancing in the pandemic, while the police did not interfere much and only 'requested' them to cooperate, but took no action to disperse them despite the crowd in large number.
A police officer said that on Friday MNS Thane district president Avinash Jadhav and other party workers staged a protest along with nearly 25-30 nurses at Covid Hospital located Global Impact Hub building in Balkum area. A MNS functionary said they were protesting against sacking of some nurses before their contract ended as well as non-payment of salary.
The police said that the MNS protested at the hospital without following any safety norms and thus Jadhav was charged under section 353 criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty and 452 - trespassing, of the Indian Penal Code, a case was registered at Kapurbawdi police station.
As soon as he was taken for remand to the Thane court hundreds of MNS workers protested his arrest and jam-packed the road outside the court raised slogans against the Shiv Sena accusing them of trying to make Jadhav silent who is raising issues against injustice during the pandemic in various parts of Thane district.
