KOLKATA: The Science faculty admissions committee in Jadavpur University resolved to grant undergraduate admission to aspirants based on a prepared set of formulae and take into account Madhyamik scores of several subjects. It framed the guideline for five Science departments — physics, chemistry, mathematics, geography and geology. The formulae will be applicable for students from the West Bengal Higher Secondary Council while for the other boards admission criteria remains the same as that of last year.
The proposed formulae for West Bengal Board students for physics, for instance, will be mathematics marks in HS x 2 + physical science x 2 in Madhyamik and the total will be calculated out of 400. In Mathematics, the HS marks of a candidate will be multiplied by two and then added to the scores in physical science + mathematics in Madhyamik.
The decision was taken since several science subjects could not be held in the higher secondary exams due to Covid situation.
