Amar Singh dies at 64: From Amitabh Bachchan to Jaya Prada, Shabana Azmi to Anil Kapoor, Bollywood celebrities mourn the former Samajwadi Party leader's demise

Former Samajwadi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh died on Saturday afternoon at the age of 64. He had been ill for a long time and was undergoing treatment in Singapore for some months. Across social media, people from all walks of life, including politicians, businessmen and Bollywood celebrities have been mourning his demise since the news broke out. Stars such as Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Prada, Shabana Azmi, Anil Kapoor, Boney Kapoor, Adnan Sami, lyricist Manoj Muntashir, among many others, remembered the veteran politician through heartfelt words. Big B, who is currently undergoing COVID-19 treatment in Nanavati hospital, had been friends with the politician for the longest time. Heartbroken, he took to his blog to write, 'Struck with grief, bowed head, only prayers are left. Close life, close relationship, the soul is the no more.' Amitabh also shared a picture of himself with his head bowed on Instagram. Earlier, in March 2020, when rumours of his death surfaced online, the former senior MP had taken to Twitter to share a video from a hospital in Singapore and said, 'Tiger Zinda Hai.'
