ENG vs IRE ODI Live Score

England vs Ireland (ENG vs IRE) 2nd ODI Live Cricket Score Online Updates: England will be chasing 213 to win the 2nd ODI vs Ireland and seal the the three-match series at The Rose Bowl in Southampton on Saturday.

Curtis Campher, coming at 7, became the first Irish batsman to score back-to-back ODI fifties after debut (Eoin Morgan had scored 99 and 41 in 2006). Following up on his 59* from the 1st ODI, he scored a 68 off 87 balls to again lead a fightback in the Irish innings on Saturday.Β The top order again failed to put up much fight. David Willey again removed both Irish openers cheaply. Adil Rashid then kept picking up wickets at regular intervals as the Irish innings again tried to hang in there more than looking to get runs. Campher got some able support from lower order batsmen Simi Singh (25) and Andy McBrine (24) as Ireland posted a more fighting total than the last match.

England begin chase - First Over Wicket! ENG 0/1

Roy and Bairstow are at the crease. Roy is on strike. Young will open the attack. And wicket off the third ball! England are 0/1 in their chase of 213. Jason Roy's woeful run continues. He goes for a three-ball duck.

Bowling figures

Reece Topley's figures don't do justice to the pressure he put Ireland under today, especially in the death overs. He took his first England wicket in 4 years, making a comeback from a series of injuries and surgeries. he finishes with 1/31. Willey, who went for runs at the death, has 2/48. Adil Rashid the star bowler of the day, with 3/34. James Vince the surprise wicket-taker. He got the wicket of irish skipper Balbirnie.

Ireland score 212/9 in 50 overs

An excellent 50th over from Topley. Ireland end at 212/9, with McBrine falling for 24 off the last ball, Bairstow taking the catch without problem. Topley gets his first wicket for England in 4 years. Fittingly, he gets the wicket with a bouncer. A deserving wicket for him. England need 213 to win. With a higher score to defend and an extra bowler in their team, can Ireland challenge the England team more today when action resumes in another 30 minutes? Stay tuned.

IRE 210/8 after 49.3 overs

Should Ireland hold their batting order by the toes perhaps? It was the Campher-McBrine pair that saved them in the first match, and it is the same pair that has stamped their class to take them to a fighting total today.

1st ODI 8th wkt partnership: 66 (Campher & McBrine)
2nd ODI 8th wkt partnership: 56 (Campher & McBrine)

No 10 Criag Young and McBrine are swinging at everything now, but not finding the sweet connection Campher was.

21:54 (IST)01 Aug 2020
Campher is out for the first time in international cricket

Campher and McBrine had taken Ireland across 100 in the 1st ODI. Today, they have taken the team across 200. A good recovery by the Irish lower order today, led, of course, by Curtis Campher, who has now scored 126 runs in international cricket without being dismissed. Woah! Jinxed it there! Curtis Campher is finally out! Saqib Mahmood gets the wicket, Adil Rashid comes under the catch as Campher does not get the required connection with the pull shot. He goes for 68 off 87 balls. A classy innings from the young lad. That partnership was worth 56. IRE 208/8 after 48.4

Campher fires!

Campher fires! Just after reaching his 50, following on from 59* on debut, smashes Willey for consecutive fours to start the 47th over. A reverse scoop to end the over. Campher has Willey's number! Amazing dexterity to hit that shot at this stage against a top-class bowler. An Irish star has been born. Not even Eoin Morgan had scored back-to-back fifties on ODI debut. His first two ODI scores had been 99 and 41. Campher is on 59* and 66*. IRE 200/7 after 47

21:38 (IST)01 Aug 2020
Back-to-back 50s after debut for Campher

McBrine comes down the track and lifts the ball over Willey's head. Willey has not fared as well as he had in the opening spell. Campher ends the over by upper cutting a short ball from Willey. Topley, who is getting more bounce and carry, is being the more effective bowler in the death. Campher gets to his 50 with a scoop off Topley. What a class performer Campher is proving to be. Ireland attack

Campher carries on, with McBrine at his side now. Almost pulls David Willey to the fielder in the deep but Billings was too far in and cannot get there. David Willey and Reece Topley brought back, possibly to finish off this innings. The batsmen are looking to take runs off every ball now. 10 runs come off Willey's over. 4 come off Topley's. How much more can this pair add? Not much batting to come after this. IRE 171/7 after 44

21:20 (IST)01 Aug 2020
7th wicket - SImi Singh goes for 25

Simi Singh gets a few more lucky runs with a tickle down fine leg. But then the breakthrough comes. Finally, Saqib Mahmood gets his reward. Bairstow must be a clairvoyant. The ball does draw the edge from Simi this time. And the catch is taken by Bairstow. That is the end of this partnership, just as Ireland were hoping this would take them across 200. Simi goes for 25. A 60-run stand is brought to an end. And Andy McBrine joins Campher. IRE 157/7 after 42

21:15 (IST)01 Aug 2020
Campher finds a worthy partner in Simi Singh

Bairstow convinces his captain to go for a Caught behind Review but the Review shows a huge gap between bat and ball. A damning diagnosis of the situation for Barstow. Saqib Mahmood's luckless run continues, Simi Singh gets an edge to run down to third man for four. David Willey is brought back into the attack in the 41st over. This partnership has now crossed 50. Campher has found a partner is Simi Singh today. IRE 147/6 after 41

KP vs Strauss - A battle for the ages

Campher is hit on the helmet by a Saqib Mahmood bouncer as he goes for a pull and misses. And a mandatory concussion test is done on him after that. Kevin Pietersen, on the mic in the comm box, breaks into a chuckle as Nasser Hussain mentions Andrew Strauss. "I'll do the professional thing and get back to the cricket," says KP. Campher, now in his 30s, is having a bit of trouble with Saqib Mahmood's incoming deliveries. IRE 136/6 after 38

20:52 (IST)01 Aug 2020
Campher accelerates

Campher gets a boundary in Rashid's next over too. Rashid had been economical without much reward in the 1st ODI, today's performance has been exactly the opposite. Campher building a lower order fightback like in the 1st ODI. Campher moves into the 20s with another well hit shot off Moeen Ali, which is cut off at the fence by Vince. Follows up with another boundary. Some accelaration from Campher. Saqib Mahmood brought back in Adil Rashid's place in the 36th over, with Ireland looking to push on against the spinners. Saqib hurries Campher into getting a top edge that lands safely. IRE 130/6 after 36

20:42 (IST)01 Aug 2020
England go to spin from both ends

England try to go through some quick overs with Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid operating from either end. Moeen Ali starts off his spell with a maiden over. Little Campher and Singh can do, with not much batting to come after this. Simi Singh sweeps Rashid for four. England go for a Review for LBW against Simi later in the 32nd over but it was missing the stumps. IRE 114/6 after 33

20:34 (IST)01 Aug 2020
Ireland cross 100 in 30th over

Something out of the ordinary is being done by Morgan though. There is not one England fielder outside the circle on the leg side as Rashid bowls the 30th over. Not one! Aggressive captaincy from the former Ireland batsman. But this turns out to be an expensive over. Four runs come as byes. IRE 102/6 after 30

20:26 (IST)01 Aug 2020
Rashid gets a third

Adil Rashid gets Lorcan Tucker out this time to break another partnership. Rashid's third wicket of the day. Tocker goes for a very soft dismissal. Gets a top edge as he goes for a heave on the off side. Topley gets the catch. And with that, all of Ireland's specialist batsmen are gone. Simi Singh walks in at 8. IRE 92/6 after 28

20:23 (IST)01 Aug 2020
Campher gets going

Campher and Tucker look to hang in the middle, with half the side down and half of the innings still to go. It was Campher and McBrine who put on a rearguard partnership last time around. How will Ireland fare in the back end of their innings today? Saqib Mahmood, still bowling with a lot of pace and bounce, is driven for four by Campher. IRE 91/5 after 27

20:12 (IST)01 Aug 2020
Tector falls

Another wicket! And its the wicket of Tector, who was looking good. Adil Rashid the man who picks up the wicket. Curtis Campher comes out at 7 to join Tucker, with Ireland in crisis again. Not as big a crisis as the 1st ODI, but quite a big hole, this, to dig themselves out of. IRE 80/5 after 24

20:02 (IST)01 Aug 2020
Partnership worth 27

Saqib Mahmood bowls his first over in the 21st over. Good pace from him again, like he had shown in the 1st ODI. Both Tucker and Tector are in double digits now, something that has been a rare sight in this series. Tector shows a resolute defence as Adil Rashid tries to bring another googly into his stumps. IRE 71/4 after 22

19:55 (IST)01 Aug 2020
Tector goes big - IRE 66/4 after 20

Big shot from Tector again. Lifts Vince again straight over his head. This almost goes for a six. Tector moves into the 20s. Time for Ireland's other youngster to shine today, after Campher made the 1st ODI his launching pad? Adil Rashid is harder to pick for the batsmen than Vince. 4 runs come off the 20th over. IRE 67/4 after 20

19:49 (IST)01 Aug 2020
Umpire takes evasive action

David Millns, the umpire, takes evasive action as Harry Tector goes hard staright down the ground. The umpire just manages to move away in time to not get the full impact of the blow. That strikes his hat and runs away for fours. Could have been worse if the umpire had not been as alert. Ireland have crossed 50, but already at great cost. IRE 52/4 after 18

England will be without Joe Denly for the remainder of the series because of a back injury. He had missed the first match after suffering spasms in training on the eve of the match. He has failed to recover and will be replaced in the squad by Liam Livingstone.
