Son killed woman for scolding him

Mandya: The mobile phone obsession of a son has cost his mother her life. Shrilakshmi, 45, was found murdered with her throat slit at her house in Mandya on Thursday. Police zeroed on her 21-year-old elder son Manusharma and arrested him for allegedly killing her after she took him to task for his mobile phone obsession.
“Manusharma is said to be lagging in education and is addicted to mobile phone. His mother always took exception to his obsession and was trying to mend his habit. On Thursday, her attempt to dissuade her son from using the mobile went awry as he hit her with a metal object and later stabbed her throat with a knife” said a police officer.
According to sources, the rest of family members allegedly tried to cover up the murder by portraying the death as a suicide. However, alert neighbours tipped off police about what had really happened, and it helped police to nab the killer son.
