Coronavirus update: With 54,736 new confirmed cases on Sunday, the coronavirus tally in India rose to 17,50,724, according to Health Ministry. The death toll from the infection jumped to 37,364.
Several states including Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Mizoram have extended their lockdown till August 31, while Uttar Pradesh has imposed weekend lockdowns to curb the rising spread of the virus. Meanwhile, in the wake of festivals like Bakrid and Raksha Bandhan, there will be no lockdown this weekend in Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital, and Udham Singh Nagar districts of Uttarakhand.
Coronavirus global updates: The global caseload on Sunday jumped to 17,998,793 as the US continued to be the worst affected country with 4,763,983 cases and 157,877 deaths.
