Yogi may visit Noida on August 10 to inaugurate 400-bed Covid hospital

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath
NOIDA: The L1, L2 Hospital in Sector 39, which is stated to be the biggest Covid hospital in the state with 400 beds, is expected to be inaugurated by chief minister Yogi Adityanath by August 10.
Confirming the CM’s visit, a senior state government official said that Adityanath will visit Noida after the bhoomi puja ceremony of Ram temple in Ayodhya on August 5. “There are a couple of tentative dates and it would be decided soon,” the official said, adding that the inauguration will take place by August 10.
GB Nagar district magistrate Suhas LY said that they are awaiting confirmation from Lucknow. “Essentially all officers have been alerted and preparations are underway. We are just left with minor repairs and most of the infrastructure is in place. Last week, we had a meeting with Noida Authority where financial powers were granted to Dr Renu Aggarwal,” the DM said, adding that the facility would be the biggest Covid hospital in the state.
The DM added that hospital has the capacity to be ramped up to L3 facility if required. Two other important Covid facilities in Lucknow – SGPGI and King George’s Medical University have 250 and 235 Covid beds respectively. However, both the facilities are of L3 category and have both ventilator and oxygen beds. The Sector 39 facility, built by Tata Project Limited (TPL), is ready structurally, though the authorities are still in the process of hiring required manpower. While 29 doctors from the district health department under the chief medical officer (CMO) have already been sanctioned, walk-in interviews are underway for specialists.
Around 49 nurses have come through the National Health Mission (NHM) from the state government in the past few days. Paramedical and other staff are also being sourced from a private agency.
Meanwhile, CMO Dr Deepak Ohri clarified that the hospital will start with adequate staff. “The facility is new and we do not need a mammoth set up. Based on patient footfall and bed occupancy, we will add to the manpower capacity,” he said, adding that 29 doctors, including a cardiologist, have already been appointed.
