A resident of Manikonda Srinivas Sharma handing over silver bricks to VHP leaders on Saturday.HYDERABAD: There will be a contribution from the city for the much hyped and awaited bhoomi poojan of Ram temple at Ayodhya. Five silver bricks, donated by a resident of Manikonda, would be placed for bhoomi poojann on August 5, which will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
City based Srinivas Sharma, has come forward to donate five silver bricks costing Rs 6 lakh for the construction of temple. Srinivas, who handed over the silver bricks to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) state president Rama Raju, working president Surender Reddy and Bajrandal state convenor Subash Chander at a function on Saturday, said it was his fortune that he got an opportunity to serve Lord Rama by giving the silver bricks on which the grand temple will soon stand.
“We did not seek any donations in the form of cash or kind for construction of Rama Temple at Ayodhya. The donor volunteered to present silver bricks to serve the god. One silver brick has already been sent to Ayodhya by Srinivas and the rest four will be sent on Sunday,” VHP state general secretary Bandari Ramesh told TOI.
VHP leaders said that the event of August 5 was a historic moment in our nation and great honour for all the people of Telangana as the pious foundation silver bricks are from Telangana. In order to make sure that these pious silver bricks reach the venue of poojan on time it's scheduled to send these bricks on Sunday to Ayodhya.
Meanwhile sources in VHP said none of the local VHP leaders would be attending the event. “Two seers from the state are attending bhoomi poojan,” a VHP leader said.
