The shooters, Ashish and Sandeep.AGRA: A team of Firozabad police led by IG Agra range Satish Ganesh and SP Sachindra Patel on Saturday arrested two Azamgarh-based shooters hired to eliminate a BJP national general secretary’s nephew (41), to help a murder accuse set free.
Police said, a history-sheeter Devender Yadav, currently in Gorakhpur jail, had hired the shooters identified as Ashish Yadav and Sandeep Yadav for Rs 5 lakh. The victim who runs glass factory was helping his deceased clerk’s family to fight a case against Devender’s younger brother Shiva, who shot dead the clerk and robbed Rs 40,000 cash in 2014.
The two shooters were caught from Sirsaganj by special operation group team along with a hatchback and two country-made pistols. Both the accused are intermediate pass, however, Sandeep was pursuing polytechnic from Etawah district.
IG Agra range Satish Ganesh said, "These are east UP ‘Phantom shooters’ who don’t have any criminal records as they don’t leave any trace to be trailed by police. They can kill anyone even for a pair of jeans trouser. Had they been successful in their task, it would be difficult for forces to trace them and connect the dots".
"One of the apprehended shooters is a student of Polytechnic in Etawah. They were paid Rs 5,000 but were promised for Rs 5 lakh. Both the shooters hail from Qadirpur under Khudkant police limits of Azamgarh," said IG, whose initial leads, led to a successful operation.
Sharing the record of history-sheeter Devender Yadav, who hired the shooters with the help of Prince Jaiswal, currently locked up in Gorakhpur jail, claimed, that Devender had murdered a person identified Anoop Kumar over land dispute in August 2019. Later, a reward of Rs 50,000 was declared on him. He was arrested by STF Gorakhpur in February 2020.
"Initial probe revealed, that Devender met Prince in Gorakhpur jail and two shooters were hired to eliminate the local glass factory owner, as Devender believed that victim was helping his deceased clerk’s family to ensure jail term for Devender’s younger brother Shiva. Devender was pressurising victim's kin to settle the matter and help his brother set free," said Firozabad superintendent of police Sachindra Patel.
Shiva had murdered Kuldeep, the clerk in 2014 while attempting to rob Rs 40,000 cash.
Firozabad police is now sending a team to Gorakhpur jail, in order to question Prince Jaiswal to ascertain as who all others are involved in the attempt to murder of the BJP leader's, who is also Rajya Sabha member.
