Coimbatore: Forest officials found an ailing tusker at Mettupalayam forest range on Thursday.
The elephant had a wound on the left palate of its mouth, officials said.
Doctors who attended to the elephant suspect that the injuries were inflicted after a duel with another tusker. The elephant was administered 32 bottles of glucose.
The elephant had been spotted at Sundapatti section of Nellithurai reserve forest in Mettupalayam a few days ago, but frontline staff could not approach it as there was a herd of elephants nearby. tnn
