Ahead of Raksha Bandhan on August 3 this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will receive a Rakhi to mark the occasion from his sister in Pakistan, Qamar Mohsin Sheikh.
Sheikh, who originates from Pakistan and married an Indian, has been tying Rakhi to PM Modi for more than two decades now. According to reports, Sheikh had met PM Modi while he was an RSS worker when she had visited Delhi with her husband. After her marriage, Sheikh has been settled in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Speaking to ANI, Mohsin Sheikh said that she will be praying for her brother, PM Modi, during these trying times, referring to the coronavirus pandemic. She said that PM Modi would have called her if he had had time but she had sent her rakhi along with a letter by courier to him. She also told ANI that she will be praying for his longevity.
Sheikh said that she hopes to speak with Modi over video call on Raksha Bandhan. She also said that this will be the 25th year of her celebrating Rakhi with him and she regrets the fact that she could not meet him due to the ongoing pandemic.
Rakshan Bandhan is being celebrated on August 3 this year.
